Abstract
Achalasia is a motor disorder of esophagus with characteristic clincal, radiographic, and manometric features. Neoplastic involvement of distal esophagus could result in a clinical picture that mimics idiopathic achalasia. Failure to identify
such
cases
may delay effective treatment of curable tumor. We report a case of secondary achalasia resulting from the leiomyoma of the lower esophagus in a 20-year old woman. After the excision of mass and myotomy of lower esophagus she showed clinical
inprovement. (Korean J Gastroenterol 1994 ; 26 : 321-326)
